Infant Located in Vehicle After Pursuit

On March 19, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., an officer with the Springfield Police Department observed a vehicle driving recklessly on E 7th Street. The officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the vehicle fled. The pursuit was terminated a few moments later; however, officers were able to monitor the vehicle as it traveled eastbound on E 11th Street.

As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the driver, later identified as Kimberlee Moon, 27, removing a two-month-old child from a car seat. After a brief struggle, Ms. Moon was taken into custody and the child was safely removed from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, narcotics and a partially consumed bottle of liquor were located.

The child and Ms. Moon were transported to local emergency rooms for evaluation.

Ms. Moon was then transported to the Bay County Jail and charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Child Abuse. Ms. Moon was also charged with Violation of Probation, in connection with a Child Abuse charge from January 2023. Additional charges are expected.
