Welcome to the City of Springfield, Florida. Our city thrives as a primarily as a residential city featuring two scenic walking parks, Martin Lake boat ramp access, a playground and a sports complex with baseball and soccer fields. At Springfield Garden walking park. the city proudly hosts Florida's first Outdoor Fitness Court Studio, recognized as the World's Best Outdoor Gym. Future plans include 5 new parks: Neighborhood Park, Douglas Road Dog Park, Nature Trail Park, Cherry Street Linear Park, Carrie Bell Shaw Outdoor Center featuring new Pickle Ball Courts, covered pavilion and picnic areas and a 11-Mile loop Park. Our city is located between the cities of Panama City, Callaway, and Parker in Bay County with close access to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City Beach and Mexico Beach, home of the world’s most beautiful beaches are close by.
The city officials, staff, and citizens are working together with many federal, state, and local agencies to redevelop our city, not for today, but for many years in the future. The different plans may be viewed on our Public Works tab. The city's dedicated Public Works Department maintains roads, parks and utilities, while our community-focused Police and Fire Departments ensure safety and security. Springfield has launched its third SRF Water and Sewer Rehabilitation Project to modernize our infrastructure for the future, The Springfield Fire Department, known for its swift emergency response, handles all medical calls promptly. Our City Administrative Staff is always available to help you with any of your needs, or head you in the right direction.
Our city is on the move with commercial business, residential units, and annexations planned for our future growth. A new Government Complex, which will include our Police Station, Fire Station, City Hall, and Public Works at one location. Construction is estimated to be completed by April 2026, located at 1141 Transmitter Road. A new Civic Center will be breaking ground in the near future, along with upgrades to our Football fields and several smaller parks.
We have over 3,000 Affordable Workforce Housing units in various stages of either planning, architecture, or building in progress. This will assist in not only our current and future growth needs, but also the influx of airmen as Tyndall A.F.B. reopens.
Currently we have started our new FDEP Grant for Infrastructure which includes water, sewer, storm water replacements, and road paving in the 14th street area and our Bay Harbor area will start after this phase is completed. Please pay attention to and abide by all Maintenance of Traffic signs and detours, and watch out for equipment and personnel. Worker area safety is a must.
At this time we are working with FSU and other agencies to clean up and restore our Martin Lake tributaries. Baskerville-Donovan, Inc (BDI) has been awarded the engineering phase for the project
