Although hurricane season just ended (and we are fortunate to not have experienced anything like in previous years), the Red Cross is already looking ahead to next season. The Shelter Heroes Campaign launched earlier this year and Bay County was identified as one of the Northwest Chapter's focus counties, the other being Escambia.
This Friday, there is a training session at the Red Cross office, 475 Harrison Ave, from 1-4 pm and we kindly request that you share this information with your employees, coworkers, friends and family as part of our preparedness posture. It is the goal to have four shelter teams in place by next June 30th, consisting of at least 6-8 individuals per team, per county. Four teams, 24 - 36 people to help in shelters, should the need arise and the Red Cross be contacted to assist with one.
